Having self-awareness is key when pursuing your vision or dreams so that you can create the outcomes you want in your life.

Not having it, is like putting a 6 year old behind the wheel of a car, have them drive along the freeway hoping they won’t crash into something even though they can’t see over the steering wheel and their feet barely touch the pedals.

Your thoughts would probably be something like, “Are you out of your mind?”

You would never ever consider it, right?

However, when it comes to creating, most people are completely unaware of what’s going on at the unconscious level and what they’re feeding their subconscious mind.

Our default nature is rooted in our ego, identity and beliefs. It’s the part of us that’s dedicated to keeping us safe and protected from harm whether it is a true threat such as being chased by a tiger who’s hungry and looking for its next meal or a perceived threat such as deadline for a project you’re working on.

One is a true “life and death” situation where you need to run like hell in order to avoid being dinner! Your ego will switch into gear and alert your physiology to pump the adrenaline levels up so you can start running at a speed that would put an Olympic athlete to shame.

The other scenario will also pump out the same amount of adrenaline and put your physiology on high alert, even though there isn’t a life and death situation going on.

Yes you may make the deadline or not and if you don’t, you’ll fail to meet the requirements of the project in that moment. What’s the outcome?

Well you won’t die or get eaten if you miss the deadline. In fact the deadline can be moved, as it is completely arbitrary, based upon a set of criteria that we make up. Yet our brain and body don’t recognize the difference between the 2 scenarios.

This is the same way we react to our beliefs. Our beliefs are an arbitrary set of criteria that we made up, fabricated to make meaning of the world around us. Our brain and body don’t recognize the difference between being in a real life threatening situation or when our beliefs tell us we’re in a life-threatening situation.

If your beliefs equate failure as being worse than death, then not making a deadline can lead to an elevation in your heart rate, a rise in your blood pressure and an overwhelming feeling of fear, anxiety or dread overtaking you.

Our ego is like an indelible computer program that can’t be erased. While it is highly sophisticated it has a default operating system that responds to all situations in the same way. It’s like a perpetual broken record that plays ad infinitum and we are completely unaware that it’s even there or that it’s playing the same tune over and over and over again.

Most people are asleep to what’s going on and believe that their identity is who they are. The reality of who they are is something completely different and is not associated with their ego, identity, beliefs or conditions of any kind.

We spend so much time focusing on being human that we forget that we are in fact Divine. We are Pure Creative Intelligence, a divine creator having a human experience.

Self-awareness wakes us up to the 2 different orientations that we have within us.

Our Egoic orientation and our Creative orientation.

Our Egoic orientation is a compilation of our ego, our identity and the beliefs, definitions and conditions that go along with it.

Our Creative orientation is born out of the creative intelligence, the Creator or Genius within, our true nature that exists outside of our ego, identity and any resulting conditions. It is the divine within us, the Pure Awareness, the Super Conscious connected to all things across all time, space and dimensions. It is infinite, overflowing like a fountain and it houses our intuition.

By becoming self-aware we wake up to our true nature and can neutralize the impact that the 24/7 broken record has on our daily activities, the choices we make and the end results we create.

Both of these orientations are mutually exclusive so when you are steeped in your egoic orientation that will be the container and driving force behind what you create.

When you are firmly planted in your creative orientation, that is when your Genius can take full flight and manifest your vision, your true end results and outcomes that are within your heart of hearts.

When you have self-awareness you have choice. You also become aware that you are responsible for everything that you create in your life regardless of whether you end up with outcomes you want or outcomes you don’t want. Either way, you created it.

Once you wake up you realize that your Egoic orientation is like having that 6-year old child in charge of “driving the bus” that is your life. Behaving and reacting like… yes you guessed it! A child. When that is what you’re focused on, the messages your subconscious mind is receiving, continues reinforcing that you remain in this orientation and ensures the sequence of events that give rise to outcomes you don’t want

Conversely, your Creative orientation is like having all the forces of Nature conspiring on your behalf to make your vision a reality. When you have the Super Conscious driving the bus that is your life, you can make anything possible. This sheer “life force” builds up a “creative” tension like a tightly pulled back bow, poised to release its arrow. When this is what you’re focused on, the messages your subconscious mind is receiving, continues reinforcing that you remain in this creative orientation and ensures the sequence of events that give rise to outcomes you do want.

Self-awareness is a practice not a one-time thing that you wake up to and forget about. Once you are awakened to your true nature, you’re responsible for keeping yourself awake.

Isn’t it time you immersed yourself into becoming more self-aware?

The rewards for doing this are truly spectacular!
