Would you like to give yourself a little holiday from all the hustle and bustle and bring on this season’s cheer? Here are some fun ways to spice up your Christmas!

  1. Decorate your home to bring this festive season to life. Add splashes of color with a few ornaments, some Christmas lights, tall vases of flowers such as bright red gladioli and voilà the stage is set.
  2. Tis the season to be jolly and this starts with you! Take extra time for yourself and dress up. C’mon it’s Christmas so what better time to put on your best threads or at least add something festive such as a Christmas tie, a Santa cap or some jingle bells earrings.
  3. Cook up some of your favorite dishes or pre-order things that you love to eat so that they can be delivered to you. This will reduce preparation, fuss and cleaning up and will extend the duration to enjoy spending quality time with the people you love.
  4. Dress up your dinner table, party area or create a Christmas picnic area on the floor, Turkish style complete with a picnic rug, large, oversized cushions, plates and glassware. Use this to relax, unwind and enjoy long, sumptuous evenings together.
  5. Use lighting to create a warm ambiance. Use candles to bring that golden glow sprinkled with Christmas lights that bring magic to any setting.
  6. Music is a must! Have your favorite music playing to really set the tone and mood for your Christmas celebration and soirées. It doesn’t have to be Christmas carols or Christmas music. Play what you love, what lights you up and makes you smile.
  7. Make some fun cocktails. They can be alcoholic or non-alcoholic to get yourself in the party mood. You can make a mixture of fresh fruit purée, such as raspberry, strawberry, or mango, add a hint of lemon or lime juice, and macerate some fresh mint. For non-alcoholic drinks, add sparkling apple juice or sparkling mineral water. If you prefer an alcoholic beverage, have the fruit puree as your base and add a dash of your favorite alcohol to the mix. You can always open a bottle a French champagne instead, to start the evening off with a bang.
  8. Now that you have the lighting, the music and your cocktail in hand, it’s time to dance. Turn up the volume put on something slow and romantic and have a little cheek to cheek twirl around the floor. Notice that you feel warm, cozy and filled with love and gratitude as you slowly dance with your partner, drinking them in with your eyes, and the touch of their body, their hands and their heart intertwined with yours.
  9. Take the time to enjoy a meal, or meals together. Talk, laugh and tell stories as you eat your favorite fare, reveling in the deliciousness of being present to the moment.
  10. Exchange gifts. It’s the thought that counts and giving from your heart. Give presents that you’ve thought about, that you’ve wrapped up with care. It’s such great fun having your presents secretly tucked away and then bringing them out on Christmas Day to be opened with delight.

Whatever you do this Christmas, may it be merry and bright.

Wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year!
